birthday wishes

These little birdies are singing their happy song despite the gray, yucky day outside! My card is based on the newest Unity Hip Hop Sketch. The sketch uses large scallops on the side. I don't have those dies now, but I definitely see them in my future:) I just layered four papers, colored my image and put it on layers, and then added my sentiment. Luckily I found that sparkly bright blue brad just waiting for me in my stash!

Have a GREAT week!
Anne

Mirror, Mirror on the wall...

I bet you are wondering what on earth I am thinking, right? Well, not to worry, I am participating in the Unity Addicts Challenge this week. Our challenge was to think of a fairy tale and make a card inspired by it. Obviously, I chose Snow White and thought of the character of the Evil Queen. Sometimes I just can't resist the bad guys!:) I'm not sure who I would ever GIVE this to, but I'm thinking the inside could say something like "Who's the best friend of all?" We'll see.

The card was so fun to make because I really needed to think and use my imagination in a different way than usual. For the mirror part of the card I used a frame stamp and then cut out aluminum foil for the actual mirror part. I drew in the chains holding up the mirror and the decorations on the white part of the card. I made the sentiment on my computer...not one that I have in my stash:) Oh! And the frame? It came from a Kit of the Month entitled "Happily Ever After!" How's that for a cool coincidence?

Hope you are having fun, too!!
Anne

Halloween and Fall

Hello!! I've had so much fun just CREATING this long weekend. It was a much needed break from the everyday. Even though I've not been creating, I have had the chance to view so many exciting cards, ideas and projects from my Unity friends! I couldn't wait to share this Halloween card that I CASEd from Nora Anne at Robinson's Nest. I totally love her work and was excited to bring a creation inspired by her to life!

My next card was inspired by two unity challenges. The first was the Unity Addict's Challenge to use stamps from three different Unity sets together. I have to say it was a challenge for me. I LOVE how Unity stamp sets all match with each other, but three stamp sets challenged me. Of course, I really enjoy a good challenge! (I can hear certain friends of mine really laughing right now!) I am also entering this in the World Card Making Day Challenge to paper piece. I have fun paper piecing, so it is fitting that this is the first WCMD challenge that I am entering. I plan to do more!!

I made the last card just for fun!! I love this dp and the stamp set and needed to give it some stamp time. It is Mish-inspired to mix and match my dp.

I hope you've enjoyed these cards as much as I've enjoyed creating them. I've saved some to share with you later! Have a great day!!

Unity Challenges

My first card is a CAS card for the Unity challenge to make your own background. I embossed it with the cuttlebug numbers folder. I love to use the numbers for a birthday card! For a kid's card, I usually highlight the birthday number...but not for adults:) I glittered it, of course, with Dazzling Diamonds. Can't get enough of that sparkly glitter!!

My second card is for another Unity challenge. I am SO ready for fall: the cooler temps and beautiful colors. It is my favorite season!! I used my newest Unity stamp set for this card. I am loving it!

birthday wishes

Lots of bits and pieces came together to make this card. It was challenging and fun!! That's kind of like life, right? You put all your experiences together, stir them up, add your perceptions and Bingo! there's the life you're living!

This card was actually made for a bingo challenge......I had to choose a letter on the bingo card going across or down and do everything in each box. For example, I chose "G" across, so my card has: tags, ribbon, stitching, masking and blue. My stitching may be hard to see; I stitched on two buttons and one ribbon. Yes, I do have a sewing machine waiting in a box for me to open up...that WAS one of this summer's projects. Didn't get done.

The more I look at this card, the more I like it. It just fits for me. I love the soft, vintage feel.

FWF

Happy Friday!!! Fall is my favorite season! I love that the weather tends to give us a break with cooler temps and the colors can't be beat. I had fun playing with fall colors when I made my card. It's hard to tell, but I did pop up the apples and the fall sentiment block. Again, I found random goodness from my stash in the form of the olive buttons. LOVE it when that happens:)

Pretty Please?

Isn't this the cutest little saying for a card? I plan on waiting until I have a BIG request for my husband and then giving it to him. Hmmm.....I'm still working on what that request might be!! Painting our porch? Going away for Labor Day weekend to a craft show? Cleaning the garage? (Believe me, that's BIG!) What would you ask your husband, friend or anyone to do for you??

You are Fabulous!!

Hello! You know, sometimes when you're working with creativity you just have to go for it! All that is to say that these are not my typical colors, but I thought I'd give them I try. I figure if I don't push myself to try new things, I'll just get stuck in a rut and that's no fun! I just kept adding things to this card to make it "right." I was totally laughing. I was reminded of the first and second graders I teach who often think that MORE is BETTER. You know: more glue, more coloring, more sequins, more writing, more talking....so not true! So, I stopped and this card is the result. I hope you like it! Don't forget, YOU are FABULOUS!
