I play video games.....

Good Evening! I took this week's My Favorite Things Sketch and flipped it on its side for my card. Another male card for me....quite a different thing! When I saw the sketch, though, I just "saw" this card:) I envision this as a card for my 19 year old son. He can play video games all night! And I mean NIGHT!! What is it with teenagers and their off sense of day and night?!?!

I paper pieced the image and popped it up on the card. I added the background detail and some extra matting. I decided it needed a little something extra, so I added the star. Thank heavens for star punches!!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Good Evening! I'm so happy to get the chance to play in this month's bloghop for Papertrey Ink! You can find all the wonderful participants and their creations here.

My dad's birthday is May 7th, so I thought I'd create a card for him. He's a special person, a great dad and I love him so much!! I used paper scraps for my card and three different Papertrey Ink stamp sets to create it. I really like to use kraft for a masculine card so I started with that as my base. I matted two pieces of scrap paper from my stash and stamped the fillable frame with a nod to Mish's great style! Then I stamped the stars and punched them out. It's so great that the stamped images fit right within the punch lines. Then I used pop dots to pop up the sentiment and stars at different heights...probably hard to tell that in the photo. Then I was done!!! Such fun! It was one of those nights when I didn't know if I had any mojo in me, but I'm happy with this card.

Thanks for coming to look:)

Friends Stick Together

Hello! I tried my hand at a new coloring technique from Colleen Schaan. Her tutorials are so easy to understand and follow. The idea is that you decide where the light source is shining on your image and create an effect to show it. This is my first attempt, so go easy on me:) I followed the MFT Sketch Challenge for the design of my card. I really like this sketch and plan to use it again in the future. If you'd like to play along, you can find the sketch and info here.

Easter Blessings

Easter Blessings to my friends who celebrate Easter! May the love and joy of Easter be yours!!

I created this card from a stamp set that I bought at Archiver's last year. The flowers are each separate images that I chose to combine together. I thought that they needed a little extra happiness for Easter, so I added the sweet, yellow pearls to them. The flower panel is raised with pop dots to give the card added dimension. The dp is Polka Dot Parade from Papertrey Ink and is the perfect fit, I think! The inside of my card is decorated simply with a strip of patterned paper that you see through the border punch on the bottom. I matted my sentiment "Easter Blessings" on the yellow dp and placed it inside also.

Friends with Flair!

Hello! Today's card is based on the April Sketch for You to Try. I just love sketch challenges because they give me an idea to think about and play with. Speaking of love, I LOVE the border stamp that I used from Unity's Jan 11 KOM! The text and the flowers just speak to me. I can't believe that I haven't used it before, but I plan to get it inky again in the near future. I used lots of matting and some cutting with deckle edge scissors to make my card. I cut apart the sentiment so that I could fit it just where I wanted it. Don't you love that twine!?! It's called Cappuccino and you can find it at the Twinery! They have lots of fun colors.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Friends with Flair

Hello! A completely CAS and masculine card today. I needed to fill my stash and this seemed to be just the ticket! I really like the different stamps in Unity's Authentic Man set. I've popped up the star and the sentiment (from the Jan11 KOM), although it's hard to see in the pic!

Have a great weekend!! I'm glad to be back to blogging. I'm promising myself more crafting and me time over the weekend!

happy easter

Hello! Still playing with the quality of the light in my new light box.......

I made this card for the JUGS sketch challenge below. I got this great dp and stamp set from Papertrey Ink last Easter and I'm having so much fun using it again. I matted my layers and cut out the circle and scallop edge with Spellbinder's dies. I sponged the inside of the circle to soften the white circle. The eggs are popped up in three layers and I added pearls to the scalloped edge. What a fun sketch to play with!

Get Well Wishes

Happy Day! I am back from a relaxing and interesting vacation in Florida! We had some days of beautiful weather and a day of torrential rain and possible tornadoes. Our hotel's power even went out for 7 hours. Overall we had a great time. This is a picture of my hubby and I enjoying a relaxing dinner at Ricky T's! Being from the Midwest, we really enjoyed eating outside as much as possible.Today's card is for the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge 13. I love their challenges and I love their stamps and dies. Their Pure Innocence line of stamps is my fave! Love this sweet little girl. This was also my first time using my new fabric tape. It's so beautiful.

My husband I finally put together my homemade light box over my spring break. I need to play with the lighting a bit, but this is my first card photographed inside it. If anyone has any ideas about how to better use the lighting, please let me know!

Have a great week!!
