Birthday wishes

The CAS-ual Fridays Challenge for this week is to make a 4 x 9 card. I paper pieced the images and added a sticker and gems for extra bling. I decided to leave lots of white space and I'm really happy with the result. I think it draws your eyes to the focal point of the card.

Framed wire memo board

Hello Friends! Today I have a different creative happening to share with you. It's not a card! I learned how to make this cool framed wire memo board here at The Gunny Sack blog. She has the best ideas! I just stuck on a card that I made a while back. Hers is all filled up with beautiful things. Mine will be soon:) Her wire framed memo board looks like this:

I used a frame that I had an old picture in. I wasn't too fond of it anymore and it seemed perfect for this project! I spray painted it white. This is my FIRST time spray painting something. It's so cool! I found the candlestick next to it at my local Goodwill for $1. I spray painted it also:) I want to show you the magnet that I made up close:

I made the pearl magnet from one of my grandma's old clip earrings! I have one more pearl magnet to make and then two from this cool pair of white and clear plastic earrings with gold flecks in them. FUN!

Thanks for letting me share! I'm joining in at these linky parties:

sweetness

Happy Friends with Flair! Be sure to stop by Unity to see all the Unity goodness!

I stamped this cutie last night! When I got my July Kit of the Month, I knew that I wanted to use the ice cream cone right away! The background is dry embossed with a large dot embossing folder. I stamped and cut out two vanilla ice creams and glued one straight on the card and then popped the other one up on top. I found the perfect sentiment in the Oct 10 KOM, added some Pink Sorbet twine from the Twinery and I was good to go!

Have a great day!!

Life is a Carnival

Good Morning! I have some more cards from my fun new set, "Life is a Carnival" by The Craft's Meow. They both go with a different challenge at Simply Scrapping Crafts. The first card is for the challenge to use embossing. It's been a long time since I heat embossed! It was fun to get out my pigment stamp pads and use those juicy colors:) I love this fun carousel too, look closely at the animals on it!! The inside sentiment is "Enjoy the ride of your life."

The second card is for the challenge to NOT use white or cream. I had this great dp picked out, then I realized it was all lined with white! Now as I'm looking at the aqua dp it seems to have little cream dots. We'll just ignore that, okay?!? The colors are a bit brighter and clear IRL. The flash glare seems to be covering up some details.

Hope you're having a great day!

Anne

Hello! I am so happy that I got my new stamps from The Craft's Meow today!! I inked them up right away. The first card I made uses the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 127. I just love this image and the fun words that you can match with it. Almost makes me want to ride a roller coaster....NOT.

sending you a little happy

Hello, Friends! I received an email today about challenges The Craft's Meow was hosting. Since I'm always looking for a good challenge (and a chance for free STAMPS) I thought I'd give two of them a try. I didn't use The Craft's Meow stamps because I just have one set that I keep using over and over! I'm going to be heading off to buy some more after my post:)

My first card is for Lucy's Lovely Lines (edited to add:) and Simply Scrapping Crafts Challenge-Banners. Lucy's Lovely Lines had a great sketch (below) that was just my style, CAS. I used Unity's May10 KOM for the pennant and sentiment. I paper pieced the pennant with scraps from Hopscotch by BasicGrey. The cloud paper is a leftover from my stash:) I used My Favorite Things medium scallop and cloud dies to create a little scene on the card.My next card is a shabby birthday card for the Simply Scrapping Crafts Challenge. Their sketch is below. I used Papertrey Ink's Mixed Messages for the sentiments on my tickets. All the rest of the card is made from bits and pieces that I've collected and hoarded,er,saved over the years. This isn't my normal style, but I had fun playing with it!

with the right accessories....

Hello! This Friday's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to use a rub-on or sticker on your card. The purse is a sticker that I've had for awhile; I believe it's from K and Company. I stamped the background journaling spot on the paper, wrapped the ribbon around, tied a bow and put my sticker on. I added the bling to the purse because I felt that it needed a little something extra. The sentiment is from Unity's Jan11 KOM and the journaling spot is also from Unity. Such a fun and quick little card:)

creating yourself

Happy Friends with Flair!
To see everyone's wonderful creations, please visit Unity!

I just LOVE this quote! To me it means that we all have the chance to change those things in our lives that we want to change. We don't have to stick with what we are now, we can grow, learn and evolve into what we want to be!

For my card I used this awesome new paper from Basicgrey called Out of Print. I knew I needed to have it the first time I saw it! The sketch is this month's Sketch for You to Try. I just flipped it on its side and changed it a bit. The quote panel is popped up with pop dots.

Have a great day! We're having some much needed rain in northern Illinois! It's a nice break from the heat! Stay cool!

thank you

Good Morning! I was inspired to start making shape cards and this is my second one. I've used the colors of the JUGS challenge, although not a lot of gray. Gray is absent in most of my scraps, buttons, bits of ribbon and such. I do have gray ink which was so light I combined it with a light brown ink so that you could read the sentiment. There's a bit of gray in my vintage shell buttons too:) My coral looks a bit pink too...ah well! Aside from my color "challenges"....this was a fun card to make. I kept adding and setting it aside, picking it up again and adding more, etc. Sometimes that is just my favorite way to create:)

Have a GREAT day! Stay COOL!

Happy

Hello! Here is a bright and cheery card for the current Ippity Challenge. The challenge is to use Unity/Ippity stamps and paper piecing. I LOVE paper piecing. I find so much satisfaction in cutting out colored bits of paper:)

My second challenge for this card was simply taking the picture. I seriously took about 10 different photos with different light and different backgrounds. It seems that bright, normal sunlight is the best for taking pictures. Now...how to simulate that indoors, especially when those dark winter months come!! I'll keep playing with it and let you know if I figure it out. If someone else already knows what to do, PLEASE share the secret!:)

Have a great day!!

birthday wishes

Hello Friends! Today I am playing with CAS-ual Fridays and their Sweets and Treats Challenge. The cupcake that I paper pieced is from Unity. I don't know which set because it came in a bunch of stamps that I won. It's an adorable image and easy to paper piece. The dp is from an older BasicGrey paper pad: Nook and Pantry. A scalloped edge and a simple greeting finished it off. Yea for sweet treats, especially CHOCOLATE ones:)

Sending you sunshine

Good Morning! I'm trying out a new sketch challenge: Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. I've noticed that others have used these sketches and they look like fun. Today I used "Sending You Sunshine" from The Craft's Meow. I stamped the tree and images and then paper pieced the clothing. I just love this sweet little set:) The cloud background is from Pebbles and all the other dp is from Echo Park's Summer Days. I plan to use this sketch again. I really like it!

Have a great day!

Happy 9th Birthday!

Today's card is for my fantastic niece who is turning 9! She loves all things glittery and I have it on good authority that her favorite colors are (in this order) - bright blue, lime green, pink and purple. I used lots of Papertrey Ink dies to create this card! I was excited to find that the limitless circles dies I have fit right inside the mat stack one die. Don't you just LOVE the holographic paper?!? It's from a small piece that I have been hoarding. For once the camera actually does it justice:) So much fun! I can't wait to see her soon:)

Back to the Blog!!

I've been MIA from my blog because of the terrible storm that we had last Monday. We didn't suffer any real damage to our property, but many people around us did. We did lose power for the whole day on Monday and didn't get our cable, internet and phone back until Thursday morning. The storm only lasted about 15 minutes, but it was so powerful and blew up very quickly. One minute it was sunny and then it was black. I took the picture below of a tree in our subdivision that was uprooted. The trunk snapped 24 inches below the surface! Luckily no one was hurt and there was no real damage to the house. I happen to be one of those people who love storms. I love the feeling of something bigger than I am that I have no control over. I don't have to try and fix it. I can't do anything to stop it. It helps to remind me that the weather and God who created it are so much bigger and more powerful than I am.
On to the cards! The first card is one that I made for last week's CAS-ual Friday challenge to make a shaped card. I wasn't able to submit it, though, because we didn't have internet. I got the idea from a Papercraft magazine. I used my Cricut Wildcard cartridge to cut the card. I just bought my Cricut recently and have been searching for ways to use it in my stamping projects. I also plan to use it for bulletin boards at school:)

My second card is for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 28. I stamped the You Rule ala Mode on white and colored her with Copics. I traced around her with an NO gray Copic to give her some dimension and make her stand out. Then I found this awesome ribbon in my stash with the alphabet on it! Perfect! Love it when that happens!! I used Circa 1934 dp and a Jenni Bowlin journaling spot. The ala Mode and the journaling spot are popped up. I'm starting to get the back to school bug! I'm thinking about new things that I want to do this year and how I want the room's design to be more functional for the kids:)

Summer Time!

Happy Friday and Friends with Flair!!
To see everyone's wonderful creations, please be sure to stop by Unity's blog.

To make today's summery card, I used the current Unity KOM Sketch Challenge, which you can see below. It's a long, skinny card....at least that's how I interpreted it:) I also went with the "Summer: Sun and Fun" theme for the Unity Challenge. Whenever I use this sentiment, the song "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess goes through my head! You know the one, "Summertime....and the living is easy."

Fourth of July Plaques

Hello Friends! Being home for the summer gives me time to get in so many crafts and try new ones. Yea!! The idea and download for this plaque come from the blog, Just Another Hang Up. (I'm linking you to the direct post for this project.) Basically, you get a wood plaque from the youI spray it with a fixative so that the ink won't run during the next step. Next, Modge Podge that baby onto the plaque and smooth out the bubbles. Then add a layer or two of Modge Podge to the top. Voila! You're done:) And, yes, Suzanne has a MUCH more detailed tutorial on her blog. AND, she makes them for tons of holidays!!! THANK YOU, Suzanne:) Below is the second plaque I made. I added puffy stickers to this one and just Modge Podged over it all. It worked beautifully:)
I'm linking my project up to these linky parties that I just found out about this summer. Fun stuff!! Just click on the icon to go and visit:)

You're a Real Fun-gi

Good Morning! Today's card is my entry for the CAS-ual Friday's Challenge to make a masculine card with kraft cardstock. In case you have the same hard time with the sentiment that I did, it really reads, "You're a real fun guy!" I know, wacky, but cute in it's own way. It's actually a valentine stamp, but I just wiped the ink off that part of the sentiment before I stamped it. I also popped it up off the page. I'm not sure what Unity set it is from, I won it in a package of miscellaneous stamps. The mushroom (fungi) image is from the Unity Dec10 Kit of the Month. I also cut part of it off because there was a lacy edge on the image. Not very masculine! IRL, the debossing looks great on the kraft and the colors aren't dull or blurry. I'm not sure what's happening to change my photos once I upload them to Blogger, but it isn't making me happy!! This was a nice, bright picture in Adobe!! If anyone has any hints, please share them with me!!

Have an awesome day! I'll be back with a second post to show off some DIY plaques that I made for the Fourth of July.

Star Spangled

Hello Friends! Today I'm playing along with the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge. Of course, with the star in the sketch, I knew I'd have to do another fun Fourth of July card:) I wish I had the new PI with the cute sparkler, but I don't. I went with this cutie and just paper pieced her to be dressed for the Fourth!

Happy Summer!

Happy Fourth of July to all my friends here in the U.S.A.!

Hello! Today marks what I think of as the middle of summer, so a summer card seemed appropriate. I have to also admit that I only have one stamp set (so far!) from the Craft's Meow, and I'm using it today for their new sketch challenge. You can see the sketch below. I really love this dp because Fourth of July in my hometown meant the coming of the carnival! When I was little, that was a really big deal. Now kids can go to Great America when they want, but we had just a few days to go to the carnival. Great memories!! (As a matter of fact, the Craft's Meow has this great new carnival set that I'm just going to have to buy!)

I stamped the banner and colored it in. I decided that the line holding it up should be some fun twine. I also have other twine wrapped around the card. I stamped, cut out, colored and popped up the sun and cloud for some extra interest. I added two green gems, matted it all and I was done. It's a fairly simple card, but it was fun to do!

Sorry to hear your bad news

Good Morning! I had so much fun playing with this new set from My Cute Stamps. It just made me smile:) I would give this card to someone who was having a bad day, nothing serious! Hopefully it would make them smile as much as this set makes me smile:)

I used the current JUGS Sketch Challenge for the LO of my card. I had lots of fun rounding corners, matting paper, and putting on lots of stickles for my butterfly wings. I thought the cute clouds made a nice addition. This was a FUN card to make:) I was smiling the whole time! Don't you love it when that happens??

Just when....

Good Morning! Happy Friends with Flair! If you haven't had a chance to see all the wonderful creations, please stop by Unity for the full list of friends! I'm also entering this in the All Things Unity Challenge to use butterflies.

I had so much fun creating this hanging for my "tiny clothespin" wall frames! You can see the post about my frames here. I just bought the stamp set, Quote Bundle Pack, and I loved this sentiment. I also remembered that one of my Unity kits, What Matters Most, had this grouping of butterflies. I decided to nestle the butterflies into the left side of the quote. Then I paper pieced all the butterflies. Lots of detail cutting, but I really enjoy that sometimes. I just get lost in the process:) After the butterflies were done I accented the quote with yellow pearls. I used the June 2011 Sketch for You to Try as my LO for the rest of the hanging. A flourish, a string of pearls and I was done!
